Three Dulcimers picture Our group exists to support local dulcimer players by opening avenues of friendship and musical expression.  We provide opportunities to share ideas and information, both at our meetings and through our monthly newsletter which includes dulcimer music & info about concerts & festivals. We welcome all who are interested in the mountain dulcimer, whether you have played for many years, or are just starting out.

Who? Our membership includes a varied group of players, from beginners to professionals.
What? Our very informal meetings focus on the fun of playing music together, sharing tunes both old and new, and learning from each other.
Why? Because the dulcimer is a cool instrument which anyone can learn to play. Whether you play just simple melodies and chords or more challenging arrangements, it is FUN.
When? Every month, on the 2nd Tuesday at 7:00 PM
Where? Calvary United Methodist Church

Mountain
Dulcimer?
Most mountain dulcimers come with three or four strings and are placed on your lap to be played, usually by strumming or picking. The most popular shapes are hourglass or teardrop, although other shapes are sometimes used. The back and sides of dulcimer soundboxes (bodies) are usually made of hardwoods like cherry or walnut, while the tops are often made of softwoods such as spruce and cedar. Economy models made of sturdy cardboard with hardwood fretboards can get you started.

To learn more about mountain dulcimers we suggest you enter "mountain dulcimer maker" in your web browser's search window. And then come to our next meeting.

In the picture above are 3 dulcimers made by Dwain Wilder. To hear what they sound like visit the Bear Meadow Audio Page.
